Biography - Craig Swancy

Craig Swancy was born in Weatherford, Texas on April 8, 1950, and is a 5th generation resident of Parker County. He is the son of Dr. Charles R. and Lanette Swancy, and has three siblings, sister Kay, and brothers Don (deceased), and Doug. Craig graduated from Weatherford High School in May 1968. He attended Weatherford College, Tarrant County Community College, Texas A & M, and the National Fire Academy (FEMA) in Emmittsburg, Maryland.  

After 34 years of service, from 1971 to 2005, Craig retired from the Weatherford Fire Department as a fire captain/shift commander. In his spare time, he owns and operates Craig's Music, Inc. since 1978. He has been an audio consultant and sound engineer for 29 years, and is also a professional photographer.

 Craig Swancy served on the Weatherford City Council in Place 4, and concurrently on the Weatherford Municipal Utility Board, from 2008 to January 2016 when he resigned to run for the office of Mayor. During his time on the Council, Craig also served as Mayor Pro Tem from 2013 to January 2016. Craig was elected in May 2016 as Mayor of the City of Weatherford and resumed his position on the Weatherford Municipal Utility in accordance with the City Charter. Craig is a member of the National Association of Music Merchants, the National Registry of Who's Who in Business 1998, a member of The Grand Lodge of Texas, Ancient Free and Accepted Masons as a Master Mason, a member of the International Society of Aviation Photographers, and a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association.

He is a past member of the North Central Texas Council of Governments Emergency Preparedness Council, the Weatherford High School Ex-Students Association, a two time past president of the Weatherford Professional Firefighters Association, and a past member of the Weatherford Economic Development Board.

Craig is a member of Hillcrest Church of Christ and is a lifelong resident of Weatherford. He and his wife, Ruth, have two sons, Chris and Matt.
